BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2016

Once again we have come together to celebrate Jesus our Savior, our Lord and our King. Let us do it in grand style.

Hangzhou’s Chongyi Church, the largest government-sanctioned church in China, has asked Christians everywhere to pray for their Pastor, Rev. Gu Yuese. Pastor Gu was arrested in January and jailed for protesting the removal of church crosses in China. China Christian Daily published a press release last weekend which included a prayer list. It requested of people to pray that God would help Pastor Gu to keep the faith in his adversity, standing firmly in the trials of the cross.

Late last week, China Aid reported that the pastor has been placed under “residential surveillance in a designated location,” otherwise known as a black jail. Communist Party officials have ordered the removal of hundreds of church crosses across China in a massive crackdown throughout several provinces in the country. Pastor Gu’s arrest is a clear indication that the most prominent church leaders in China will not be allowed to stand in the way of this initiative. The government is claiming that the crosses are being removed over building code violations. However, several watchdog groups, including China Aid and International Christian Concern, have said that the crackdown has more to do with the government’s uneasiness about the rapid increase of Christianity in China.

China Aid founder and president, Bob Fu had the following to say about Pastor Gu’s arrest, “His arrest marks a major escalation in the crackdown against those who oppose the forced demolition of crosses. He will be the highest-ranking national church leader arrested since the Cultural Revolution.”

The responsibility is ours to pray for Pastor Gu. Let us pray that this imprisonment of his would have a similar effect like Paul’s; that it would result in the furtherance of the gospel throughout China. Let us pray that because of this the Kingdom of God would expand in a way such as they have never seen it before in China.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY FEBRUARY 14, 2016

We give praise and thanks for another day of worship. May we make His praise glorious today as we worship Him.

Recently NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, has been accused of censoring religious speech among its Christian employees, including banning the name Jesus. The JSC reportedly told employees last year that the name “Jesus” could not appear in newsletters pertaining to the Praise and Worship Club that meets during the lunch hour.

NASA has a long history of respecting the religious speech of its employees. This includes defending, in court, the astronauts who read the biblical account of creation while orbiting the moon. According to the Christian Post, Liberty Institute Senior Counsel Jeremy Dys told them on Tuesday, “This tradition should continue here. We decided to get involved because we are committed to upholding the right to free religious expression for all Americans, including government employees.”

The Texas-based Liberty Institute along with attorneys from the firm Fish & Richardson sent a letter to NASA JSC on Monday in response to the censorship. The letter indicated that the censoring of the club’s religious viewpoint is a violation of federal law and the First Amendment and that such assertions have been repeatedly rejected by the Supreme Court. The letter concluded with the following, “We fail to see how such a mention in an advertisement that is tied specifically to the JSC Praise and Worship Club connotes state sponsorship, endorsement, or establishment of religion.”

Once again we see another effort by the devil and his cohorts to silence the children of God and suppress the name of Jesus. But we thank God that His people are no longer sitting back and taking it. They are fighting back using all the available means. Let us remember to give our prayer support to the Praise and Worship Club at JSC.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY FEBRUARY 7, 2016

Once again we thank God that we can assemble in one accord to celebrate Jesus our conquering King. Praise the Lord!

Over 15,000 supporters rallied at protests held in eight cities across the globe on Saturday to continue putting pressure on the Norwegian government to release five Romanian Pentecostal children who were removed from their parents based on abuse allegations. According to The Christian Post, five children of Ruth and Marius Bodnariu were removed from their parents’ custody last Nov. 16 after the principal from the school which two of their daughters attended notified authorities of her concern that the children were being spanked by their parents at home as a form of discipline.

As a result of this, the five children who range from age nine to four months, were placed into three separate foster homes by the Norway’s Child Protection Services. As for the parents, they now have limited visitation rights. They are scheduled to have their next court hearing in March to determine whether they can be reconciled with their children. International supporters of the Bodnariu family held various protests, marches and rallies in Romania, Spain, Poland and Australia on Saturday to continue raising awareness of the family’s plight.

This is a very serious matter in the sight of God. The devil does not want our children to be trained as God’s Word dictates. This Christian family is penalized for applying the scriptural truth which states, “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction will drive it far from him.” (Pr.22:15). Let us pray earnestly for the Bodnariu family, that God would intervene, confound the authorities and have them return these children to their Godly parents.

A Hope-Filled Heart

You and I live in a trashy world. Unwanted garbage comes our way on a regular basis. Haven’t you been handed a trash sack of mishaps and heartaches? Sure you have. May I ask, what are you going to do with it? You could hide it. Pretend it isn’t there. But sooner or later it will start to stink. So what will you do?

If you follow the example of Christ, you’ll learn to see tough times differently. God wants you to have a hope-filled heart… just like Jesus. Wouldn’t you want that? Jesus saw his Father’s presence in the problem. Sure, Max, but Jesus was God. I can’t see the way he saw. Not yet, maybe. But don’t underestimate God’s power. He can change the way you look at life. -The Lucado Inspirational Reader by Max Lucado

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 31, 2016

Once again we thank God for the privilege of gathering together for His glory. May this be an unforgettable moment.

On Friday January 22nd, a massive snow storm began to affect the East Coast of the United States. It had a storm surge of five feet, with winds that were over 50mph, visibility of 0.25 miles and snow accumulation of about 16 – 36 inches. All of these factors brought everything to a grinding halt. According to the Associated Press, more than 150,000 homes and business were without power in North Carolina. The storm also brought extreme flooding in parts of New Jersey. Schools up and down the East Coast were closed. Federal government offices in Washington D.C were shut down. Approximately 31 persons died as a result of the storm and over 80 million Americans were affected.

But the most interesting thing about this storm was the name it was given. People gave it different names, but the official name given to it by the weather service was “Jonas” (Jonah). In Lk.11:29-30 Jesus said, “…This is an evil generation, they seek a sign and there shall no sign be given it but the sign of Jonas the prophet. For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. “

Jonah was a prophet whom God sent to warn the people of Nineveh in 760 BC about God’s pending judgment on that city because of its wickedness. Could it be that this storm, Jonas, is just a warning to our nation of God’s pending Judgment? Let us pray earnestly for our nation that as the people of Nineveh humbled themselves and repented before God, that our nation would do the same.

Spanish Scripture: (John 14:16)
“Y yo le pediré al Padre, y él les dará otro
Consolador para que los acompañe siempre.”
-Juan 14:16 (NVI)

God Is in the Details

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever.” —John 14:16

The Lord cares about every tiny detail of your life. People who don’t believe this truth have a difficult time experiencing real intimacy with Him. You can and should talk to Him about everything. Nothing is too big and nothing is too small. He will help you put in your contact lens or drive in snow. He said, “I am with you always” (see Matthew 28:20 NIV), and He is always ready to help, strengthen, encourage, or comfort you.

The Holy Spirit is called “The Helper.” He is also referred to as “The Standby.” I love that He is standing by me at all times, waiting to assist me with whatever I need. But He is a gentleman and won’t push His way into our lives. We open the door for Him to work simply by asking, which is prayer.

God is love, and when we dwell in His love, enjoying and being aware of it, we dwell in God. To dwell means, “to live and remain in.” “Dwelling” is not an occasional visit, but a permanent, fixed situation. I don’t say, “I visit my house.” I say, “I live in my house.” God wants us to say the same about Him and His love for us. His love is where we live. God is with us at all times, watching over us, keeping us safe, overseeing every detail of our lives. And the Holy Spirit is standing by to help you!

Love God Today: Whatever you need today—a parking place, help navigating a tough situation at work—know that God cares about the little things and the details of your life, and He wants you to depend on Him. – Joyce Meyer

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 24, 2016

Once again we are happy to be gathered together in the name of Jesus. May God minister to you as we worship today.

Recent statistics in Christianity Today indicate how popular the Bible has become in this troubled world. According to these statistics, every second throughout the world YouVersion’s Bible App is opened 112 times. In this app, three bookmarks are created, four verses are shared, and 18 verses are highlighted. More than 50 Bible chapters are listened to, and 342 chapters are read. Verses shared most include Pr. 4:6, Phil. 4:6-7, and Rom. 12:2.

YouVersion was launched by Life Church in 2008. To date the app has been installed over 200 million times. The app now offers the Bible in more than 1,200 versions and 900 languages. “What God is doing through YouVersion is incredible—changing mobile devices into Bibles that people carry with them everywhere they go,” said Bobby Gruenewald, pastor of Life Church. “As we see the magnitude of 200 million installs, what we’re really celebrating is what that number represents: countless numbers of individuals transformed by their time in the Bible.”

The verse that was bookmarked, shared, and highlighted more than any other in the app’s history was also the top verse for the US and Brazil in 2015. That verse was Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” (NIV)

These statistics concerning the Word of God are very remarkable. In spite of the dense darkness in our world, the light of God’s Word is shining into the hearts of men and women. It is most evident that all is not lost. The kingdom of God is advancing! The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 17, 2016

Once again we are happy to be gathered together to celebrate Jesus. May the warmth of His presence fill our lives today.

Churches in Kenya are currently seeking to resist a massive onslaught from the government. According to a BBC news report, new government proposals will require all religious bodies to register with the government. They will also require all pastors to undergo formal training at a ‘reputable’ seminary, and to obtain police clearance. These new rules also give great authority to the registrar, including the right to invade churches in order to conduct impromptu audits.

But the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya has severely criticized these measures. They contend that they are aimed at stopping the growth of Evangelical church. Over 82 percent of the Kenyan population claims to be Christian, and close to half of these are from Protestant churches. Bishop Mark Kariuki , Chairman of the Evangelical Alliance said, “The church in Kenya is under attack. Yes, it is under persecution. Registration of churches was stopped since 2014. We believe this is meant to stop evangelism and growth of the church, since other societies are being registered freely.”

The Rt. Rev. Philip Anyolo, the chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, calls them a “clear violation of the constitution” that is “explicitly clear on the freedom of worship.”
It is very clear that even the devil is aware that God is about to glorify Himself through His people in the earth in a way that He has never done before. This is the reason why he is attacking the Church so consistently. But let us keep in mind what Jesus said, “I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” We must pray one for another as we have never prayed before. Let us keep the Kenyan church in our prayers for God to give them the victory over this work of the devil against them. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 10, 2016

Because the Lord is our Shepherd, we will not lack anything this year, not even victory! Welcome to FEA!

During a New Year’s Eve service on December 31, 2015, a man armed with a semi-automatic assault rifle, walked into a small church in North Carolina, while the Pastor was preaching a sermon on the growing violence in the community. The pastor, a 57-year-old retired soldier named Larry Wright, stopped preaching, then walked up to him and said, “Can I help you?” The gunman, who looked emotionally troubled, asked Pastor Wright to pray for him. The pastor, having done so, then asked him to give him the weapon and ammunition magazine he had. Having surrendered them to the pastor, the gunman was then asked to sit in the front row as the pastor continued his message.

Someone in the congregation seeing the pending danger, immediately called 911. The police soon arrived on the scene, but the pastor asked the police to remain outside. “I finished the message” said Pastor Wright, “I did the altar call and he stood right up, came up to the altar, and gave his life to Christ. I came down and prayed with him and we embraced. It was like a father embracing a son.”
The man then apologized to the congregation and told them that he had set out that evening with the intention of doing something terrible, but the Lord spoke to him in the service.

This is exactly what happens when the power of God is resident in the Church. We begin to exercise the authority and experience the VICTORY that God intends for us. The devil and his plans are crushed under our feet, and the Church of Jesus Christ advances in glorious VICTORY. Amen! Amen! Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 3, 2016

This is the year that the Lord, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Today is the first Sunday of the New Year 2016. Whether you are prepared for it or not, it is here. Now is the time to determine that you will leave the past behind you, having dealt with those things which you needed to have dealt with. It’s time to embrace the New Year with all of its prospects, its possibilities and its divine promises. Let us prepare ourselves to give birth to those new things which the Holy Spirit has conceived in our spirits for 2016.

On December 23, in our second to last Lunch Hour Hotline sessions for 2015, the Holy Spirit stirred up a very strong prophetic anointing. He spoke to me very distinctly and instructed me to tell the gathering the following, “In the New Year, (2016) I the Lord will shake the heavens and the earth. Many shall fear and tremble at what they shall hear and see. But you my people who know me shall be at rest because those who know me will understand what I am doing. At the same time I will release my hand mightily in the midst of my people. They shall be signs, wonders and miracles in the midst of you my People. I will work mightily among you. So prepare yourselves, for I am about to do what I will do, says the Lord.”

Later, the Lord took me to the Book of Haggai chapter 2, verses 6-9, and confirmed to me just what He had said to me. You can read it for yourself. But this is what I will say to you: We are now in that time when God will show forth His judgment in the world but His glory in the midst of the Church.

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY DECEMBER 27, 2015

Once again we are gathered together praising the Lord. Indeed something good is going to happen. So let us be ready.

Today is the last Sunday of the year 2015. On Thursday at 12:00 midnight, this year will officially come to an end. Those of us who understand what time is all about know that time is just “a measured piece of eternity.” Therefore, it must come to an end one day. It is important to note that each year brings us closer to our end here. This is why we need to examine ourselves and address our shortcomings.

One of the most prevalent shortcomings among Christians is unforgiveness. Maybe there is someone who caused you hurt this year. It may be a spouse, a son, a daughter, a friend, a neighbor, a colleague, or even a complete stranger. You need to forgiven that person. You can choose either to forgive or to be bitter and revengeful.

Unforgiveness is a weapon of Satan to destroy the offended person from the inside out. And if it is not dealt with, it will develop into bitterness. The Bible says that “bitterness dries up the bones” (Pro. 17:22). It dehydrates the flow of life from deep within the spirit, soul, and body. There is only one way to be free from this, and that is to choose the path of forgiveness. God’s Word is very clear concerning forgiveness. It says in Matthew 6:14-15, “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” You must choose forgiveness. God’s grace is able to help you.

So as this year comes to an end, let us choose forgiveness overlaid with the unconditional love of God. It may be that you have been holding out on that person for a long time. It is time to let it go and Give to that person the blessing of forgiveness. Shed that load before the New Year begins. Enter into 2016 a free person so that God can fulfill destiny in your life. Amen!

BULLETIN FOR SUNDAY DECEMBER 20, 2015

“I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord.” Are you glad that you are here? Well, we are very glad.

Christmas, the observance of the birth of Jesus was never intended to be a distraction, but simply to declare that death and Satan have been defeated. Christmas, at its core, is about Jesus Christ – the hope and assurance which He brought to mankind. It is the hope that we have an eternal treasure which death and the devil cannot destroy. It is the assurance that we do not have to succumb to the difficulties of life. Christmas lights and holiday parties can keep our minds preoccupied for a while, but when it is all over, reality soon dawns again. The burdens and the cares of life return; and it is only through Jesus Christ that we can overcome.

The greatest tragedy of Christmas is that we have replaced the Savior with the symbol. Even as devout Christians, the celebration of Christmas has become more significant than the miracle of the Incarnate Christ. The coming of the Messiah changed the course of history! All of Israel looked forward to his coming as their one hope from bondage, oppression, and death. Every believer’s hope can only be Jesus’ sacrifice which demolished sin and death. Yet, this great hope that changed our history and our future gets clouded by all the Christmas paraphernalia.

Let nothing distract you this Christmas from its true meaning. On December 26 when the gifts would have been opened and the parties would have been over, Christmas will still be a reality. Jesus Christ came to earth as a human, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sin and was resurrected, giving us an eternal hope. Let us not stop celebrating this hope, for it is not confined to a date on the calendar.

HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS!

-Mateo 1:23 (NVI)

The gift of God’s presence through you is your gift to the world.
GOD WITH US

His presence in the room was obvious. Everyone else was dressed rather formally. He had on a pair of jeans, a T-shirt, and a weathered baseball cap. I couldn’t help but notice him as I addressed students that day in a seminary chapel in Bucharest, Romania. I have no idea why he didn’t conform to the norms of seminary attire, but I do remember his name. At the close of the meeting he came up to introduce himself. When I asked him his name, he answered, “Immanuel.” I was surprised by his answer and asked if he knew what that meant; he unashamedly replied, “Yes- ‘God with us!’ ”
I’ve often thought about that young man and how he stood out in the crowd. Just as Jesus came to bring the presence of God into our world –“Immanuel… god with us” (Matt. 1:23)- so too we are called to bring His presence into our world. Jesus made that clear when He said, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21). This Christmas, we can give the gift of God’s likeness through us. When our lives reflect the God who lives in us, we can be different from the world, and that difference can bless others with the transforming presence of His love and grace. ~Joe Stowell
